Katie Chennells - Conceptual Artist & Cultural Curator

An aspiring community curator, I aim to bridge the accessibility gap between artistic institutions and cultural communities by collaborating with museums and galleries to facilitate a socially engaged practice on all levels of institutional curation, exhibition, and collaboration.

My 4 years of experience in the Art World provide me with a well-rounded knowledge of curation and exhibiting. I have worked on projects such as a collaboration with Turner Prize nominee Mark Titchner, as well as exhibiting my own work nationally at events such as the Bath Fringe Festival, and internationally at The National Art Centre, Tokyo. As part of my BA (Hons) Fine Art degree I also co-produced, managed, and curated multiple internal exhibitions of student work, which has given me exceptional organisational and artistic communication skills. As a Student Brand Ambassador, I am responsible for giving the Fine Art tours for my university, as well as managing events and visitor experiences.

Over the past 2 years my practice as an artist has developed into one that is both research and community based - I wrote my BA dissertation as an analysis of the museum and current institutional climate regarding the representation and inclusivity of ethnic groups in curational display. I am passionate about becoming a community curator and artistic facilitator between communities and the institution for greater cultural access and diversity.
